Episode 16 (Debbie Vu) “You Are Hollywood”

Evan speaks with fellow NC filmmaker Debbie Vu. Debbie studied electronic journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. It was through this process that she was introduced to documentary filmmaking which she preferred. This seemed to be the healthier route to sharing her stories, rather than working based on the idea that “if it bleeds, it leads.” Debbie aims to share stories of hope and inspiration with her films.

Episode 15 (Johnny Dutch) “Run of the Picture”

Evan speaks with Team USA hurdler & filmmaker Johnny Dutch. Johnny is also the subject of Evan’s five year documentary “Run of the Picture”, releasing on Amazon Prime Video on April 13th, 2019. Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, Johnny attended Clayton High School before making his way to Columbia and the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in Media Arts. At 19, he was 5th at the 2008 Olympic Trials, three-tenths on a second from making the team. Johnny holds a top-5 rank in the world and has represented Team USA at the World Championships in 2009 and 2015.

Episode 12 (Jennifer Dasal) “Art Curious”

Happy New Year! Filmmaker Evan Kidd speaks with Jennifer Dasal. Jennifer is the Curator of Contemporary Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art, where she has been employed since 2008. She holds an MA in art history from the University of Notre Dame as well as a BA in art history from the University of California, Davis. She has also completed PhD coursework in art history at the Pennsylvania State University. Jennifer also hosts the ArtCurious Podcast, a bi-weekly show exposing the unexpected, the slightly odd, and the strangely wonderful in art history. ArtCurious puts story first, shining light into unseen corners of art history.
