Filmmaker Evan Kidd speaks with Smokehouse Porter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Smokehouse is an accomplished blues musician who has played the blues for over half his life alongside his wife Mamie Porter. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, both Smokehouse & Mamie fell in love with the sights and sounds of Louisiana blues. And not long after, each other. Fast forward to August 2016, and we find Smokehouse and Miss Mamie Porter in a fight for survival as Baton Rouge and the greater community they’ve built around swamp blues falls prey to rising flood waters.
