A graduate of Stanford in Music & Theatrical Lighting Design, Jacob combines a theatrical experience with the joys of a quality meal. Jacob has hosted pop up dinners in the Morehead Planetarium, PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, on the banks of the Haw River, the rooftop at Citrix in downtown Raleigh and inside the Raleigh Denim workshop.

Sarah is currently on your with her band the Disarmers in support of their new album “Years” released via Bloodshot Records. Sarah walks the line between vulnerable and menacing, her voice strong and uneasy, country classic but with contemporary, earthy tension. Sarah Shook & the Disarmers have been covered by the likes of Rolling Stone, The FADER, Noisey/VICE, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Their song, “Good as Gold,” was chosen as one of Rolling Stone’s 10 best country and Americana songs of the week in March 2018.

Episode 5 (NANCE) “Power of Persistence”

Filmmaker Evan Kidd speaks with North Carolina rapper NANCE. NANCE has created a local buzz by landing performances in various venues headlining his own shows and opening for popular hip-hop artists such as Action Bronson, MGK, KYLE, Mobb Deep, Caskey, SonReal, Chevy Woods, and Kooley High. He has also performed up and down the east coast and touches the festival stages at Hopscotch 2016 and Packapalooza 2016 in Raleigh, A3C 2016 in Atlanta, and Art of Cool 2017 in Durham. NANCE released his first studio album No Excuses in April of 2018. In preparation for the album, NANCE successfully crowdfunded $10,724 through Kickstarter help finalize, shoot music videos, and promote his new music.

Episode 2 (Smokehouse Porter) “Transforming the Blues into Art”

Filmmaker Evan Kidd speaks with Smokehouse Porter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Smokehouse is an accomplished blues musician who has played the blues for over half his life alongside his wife Mamie Porter. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, both Smokehouse & Mamie fell in love with the sights and sounds of Louisiana blues. And not long after, each other. Fast forward to August 2016, and we find Smokehouse and Miss Mamie Porter in a fight for survival as Baton Rouge and the greater community they’ve built around swamp blues falls prey to rising flood waters.
